This Week’s Fishing Report
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing is fair to good trolling white, chartreuse, chrome and fire tiger Bombers for white bass and an occasional walleye. Good reports from the Long Point and McRae Canyon areas. Fishing is fair using tubes, senkos, Pop Rs, jerk baits and Crank baits for largemouth and smallmouth bass. Crappie fishing was slow but a few were taken by anglers using minnows and small jigs. Fishing is fair using chicken liver, shrimp and stink baits for catfish. Surface temps on the main lake are in the high 60s.
Caballo Lake: Fishing is fair to good trolling white crank baits, sassy shad, spinners and spinner/minnow combinations for white bass. Fishing is fair trolling spinner/night crawler combinations, crank baits and jig-night crawler combinations for walleye. Fishing is fair using stink baits for catfish.
Rio Grande River: Water flow below Elephant Butte was 1390 cfs on Monday. Fishing below Caballo is fair using stink baits for catfish.
