Xterra Dreadmon/ Dam Site Du Youth Race
7am, Dam Site Restaurant and Marina, Elephant Butte Lake State Park

The Xterra Dreadmon is the first of two challenging (adult) triathlons taking place in the historic Elephant Butte Dam area as part of a special double event. Competitors will swim 880 yards, cycle 13.92 miles and run 3.26 miles.

The ‘Dam Site Du’ youth race is a duathlon; entrants will bicycle between 1 and 5 miles, then run between a ¼ mile and 1 mile, depending on their age group. Park entrance fees apply for spectators. Contact: HEROS Inc, Scott Kennicutt, 575-740-3929.

Race Day Celebration

Meet the athletes competing in the Xterra Dreadmon and watch the kids run the Dam It Man Youth Race. Upbeat musical entertainment will be provided by the Fiesta-favorite Ska band Casual Fridays. Contact: 575-894-2073.

Dam It Man Triathlon

The Dam It Man is the second of two demanding triathlons on this special double race weekend. A tough sprint-distance race comprised of a 400 meter swim, 12 mile bike, and a 3 mile run, it will draw top-flight athletes from across the west. Park entrance fees apply for spectators.
