From The Valley...featured in our Tavern Friday Night

Posted February 23, 2012

From the Valley was formed in the spring of 2011, in Las Cruces, NM. From the Valley’s members include Dustin Vendrely (Vocals/Guitar), Zane Watkins (Lead Guitar), Marcos Cadena (Drums), and Manny Rodriguez (Bass). From the Valley plays original songs that fall somewhere between country music and rock ‘n roll. Each member of the band brings a different style of music that shapes the overall sound into something that covers multiple genres. From the Valley also plays the cover songs that people love to here, which can be anything from Dwight Yoakum and Journey, to Talking Heads and Led Zeppelin. You are guaranteed to hear things at a From the Valley show that you would never hear otherwise. In July of 2011, From the Valley was named Champions of the Graham Central Station Battle of the Bands. From the Valley is looking forward to begin the recording process and release an album in the near future. Until then, come see From the Valley live. You won’t be disappointed....come join us Friday, July 27th in the Ivory Tusk Tavern!

As posted in The Herald newspaper on 2/22/12:

Blue Moon Oil & Gas owner, David Hines, hasn't had a break since last April because the oil business is booming.  He came this weekend with Billy Jack Miller of Rio Grande Guide Service and caught all the blue catfish he wanted.  Billy Jack then took the fish to Chef Mack of Elephant Butte Inn, who prepared his client's fish three different ways:  blackened, baked and deep fried!!

Bob Gerding's Outdoor Adventures

Posted February 10, 2012

We're in Albuquerque right now at the awesome Outdoor Adventures Show at the fairgrounds.  This is an amazing show and a Mecca for the outdoorsman.  There's even a huge amazing bulldog (Travelin' Jack) sitting on a Valentine's throne giving out kisses for donations for animal welfare.  I left the booth with my husband to check out a seminar on cooking with cast iron skillets.  Billy Jack Miller, one of our local fishing guides is here with Monica and Gidget as is Bob Evans, who is selling fishing boats...We're all here to sell the wonders of Sierra County.  The show still runs Saturday and Sunday so take a quick trip to Albuquerque join us.
