Sierra County: A Great Place to Visit
The Dam Site area of Elephant Butte Lake is one of the lake's principal recreational areas. It is located directly east of Elephant Butte Dam along Hwy 51 and 177. In this quiet out-of-the-way area are located a marina, a lodge, some cabins, and a restaurant/bar with a picturesque patio dining area. Live outdoor music and dancing is a frequent offering in the patio on summer weekends. Join local folks enjoying themselves alongside a beautiful view of the lake and its signature island, Elephant Butte Island (watch out for the goats!). Rent a boat at the marina for a leisurely cruise over blue refreshing water. Enjoy a delicious meal in the restaurant or a game of pool in the bar. A large tree-lined parking lot provides easy and convenient access.
